Helping rescue dachshunds reach their new homes!
FL Rescue Link Added About as newsworthy as it gets around the website lately - I just added a new link to the Florida Dachshund Rescue website to the links page.
Rescue Dachshund Pin I'm a little late in getting this out but the Almost Home Dachshund Rescue Society has released their third annual Rescue Dachshund Pin. These lapel pins feature an adorable doxie that was helped by the Almost Home members over the prior year and the proceeds help fund their future efforts. So what are you waiting for? Go get your pin before they run out!
UPDATE: Jun 2008 - The link to the rescue pin no longer works so I have removed it.
Living with Po We have a new canine family member; Po-Po Bandito! He is a pretty cool dog even if he doesn't let us sleep through the night and has some bladder control issues. He is crazy loyal and very companionable and is generally pretty careful around the little members of the household. Plus, Piglet loves playing with him.
New Web Host We have moved to a new webhost at TextDrive. Our previous host had some system administration issues that, for unknown reasons, they couldn't resolve in an acceptable way and instead tried to blame, and punish, us for. We strongly recommend you do not use MySiteSpace as a webhosting provider. TextDrive was offering an unbeatable deal in terms of rate and flexibility and we have long heard good things about them.
Google Ads I have added a google adds block to the right part of the site. I am going to try and filter out certain types of ads that deal with the selling of dogs as time goes by. If you see an ad advertising the sale of a dog please let me know what domain it was advertising and I will update the ad filter to block that domain. Thanks.
Lance RIP Our largest dog, Lance, a Dalmatian, died suddenly of a stroke late last month. He will be dearly missed.
CafePress.com Thanks go out to anyone who uses us a a Referrer at cafepress.com as their sales help us stay in operation. In fact most of our operating expenses are now covered via commisions generated by folks who have opened their own CafePress store. If you are thinking of opening a store - please consider using the DUR as your referrer.
New Web Home We just moved to a new web host in an effort to cut costs here at DUR headquarters. We are now using My Site Space. So far, we are pretty happy with their support responsiveness and their very low rates. Sadly, we had to leave our long time host of webclickhosting.com (apx $13/mo) + the cost of hosting our own personal domain rawlinson.us (axp $5/mo) which we are able to do on the same account for only $8.95 a month total.
Read all about it We just turned in an article for the Disabled Dachshund Society Newsletter. We should be featured on or around page six. If you want to see the DUR in print make sure you check out their upcoming newsletter!
Oscar da Grouch - RIP Our beloved Oscar has parted this earth for an afterlife of peaceful naps, abundant food, and plenty of blankets to cuddle under. He will be dearly missed by everyone here at DUR headquarters. We love you Oscar! Oscar lived a long and contented life however his heart eventually gave out under the strain of all the love he carried with him.
Pins and Magnets The store now offers nice pins and magnets featuring the DUR logo of Oscar. Currently, we are only showing them in single lots; but if for some reason you would like to buy them in larger quantities (10 or 100 packs) we can offer them as well - at a discount most likely.
Get your DUR Dog Shirt
We have some new products in the DUR store.
Help support us and get some cool loot at the same time. The newest item
is a really fun Dog T-Shirt. That's right it is a T-shirt for your dog and it is
emblazoned with the DUR logo!
Thanks for your support!
Forms really fixed!
It turns out our forms weren't really fixed after all - well they were mostly. But if
you had an email address of type .us or .ca
or any other domain with a 2 letter suffix the form wouldn't let you submit - now
thats fixed too!
Plus I added a "country" option
to the volunteer form so you can be a Canadian volunteer as well. Intially I hadn't
thought about multinational volunteers when
creating the form. Thanks to recent volunteer MS for pointing out the problem.
New Link Added I just added a new link to our links page. Please check out the Disabled Dachshund Society which looks to be a great organization helping out our less abled Doxie friends!
Forms are Fixed We recently had a lot of emails stating our forms weren't working. I don't know how long this was happening but I imagine for a few months. I apologize to everyone! I have fixed the forms and they should be working correctly now. For those interested it was caused by a server move within our web host that resulted in a script name change. Whoops! Well it is all fixed now so if you need help or want to help, please use the forms!
Rescue Dachshund Pin I wanted to let you all know about a great project. The "Pin" is a fund raising effort for the Almost Home Dachshund Rescue Society to help them raise money to be spent on the medical costs of foster doxies in their care.
The pins are only $3 and make a great collectible or gift. I urge you to check out there site and see what it is all about. The site, and the Pin, are both great looking and I hope they have great luck building their fund!
New Products We have added a few new products to the store to include a variety of bags; from backpacks to messenger bags - all to help you keep organized while on the road helping deliver our favorite dogs! So check out the store today.
New Website
My husband, Bill, has taken our new logo -
crafted by
Steve Lewis one of his coworkers and
built a new site around it. The content hasn't really changed, just the look.
I hope you like it!
DUR Store!
To help offset the cost of owning this domain and hosting the website
I have opened a small store online selling some "DUR" logo'd merchandise.
Please support our efforts by visiting the store and shopping. If you see
a product you want, that I don't sell, just email me at lisa@doxie.org
and I'll get it up there.
One a Week Policy.
Due to time limitations and the fact that I need to maintain my career in order to be
able to
afford to help the dogs, we now only arrange one transportation per week.
Easy to Volunteer Sign Up Form!
Use this great form to sign up and help move the little Doxie's when they need it.
Great Request for Transport Form!
If you are trying to get a rescue dachshund moved to its adoptive home, then
fill out this form and we will try to help.
Meet Oscar, Our Friendly Mascot!
Whether you love Dachshunds or not, it is tough to resist this
little fella's eyes. Sure we call 'im Oscar Da' Grouch, but
he's really just a sweety!
